This Pop, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues Workshop is better than Karaoke because one will learn how to get the most out of performing for fun or professionally. Children learn how to sing lead vocals and background vocals to different songs. Final Project- A live performance with a live combo.

Have you ever wanted to perform your own song, but haven't a clue how to write it? Or maybe learning how to write a chord chart to give a band or accompanist is your fancy? This is your chance to use basic theory and harmony to do just this. Emphasis on chord symbols, rhythms, note notation and more will be addressed throughout the workshop. Final Project- Completed composition will be performed and recorded at the end of 8 weeks.

Learning to read chord changes, play blues scales as well as other related jazz scales is another invaluable and enriching side of music. Children that are exposed at an early age to Jazz, Rhythm and Blues charts will not only increase their knowledge and understanding of how to combine harmonic chords with a melody, but will also learn how to do it more efficiently with practice. This class will also focus on improvisation. Final Project- Students will understand beginning blues chord progressions and basic scales used to enhance a melody in jazz and rhythm and R&B charts.
